Coronavirus is spreading like wildfire across the world and, in a relatively short time, has disrupted our daily lives and society in an unimaginable way. Scientists, doctors and all the other people working at Amsterdam UMC are putting unremitting energy into finding a solution. Unfortunately, we can’t do that on our own; we need your help. We have to do this together.
'This exceptional situation requires exceptional measures. If scientists are quickly able to learn more about the virus, we can hopefully find a solution fast.'
Joost Wiersinga, an internist specialising in infectious diseases and Head of Amsterdam UMC’s Infectious Diseases department
The academic fund-raising foundations in Amsterdam have established the ‘Amsterdam UMC Corona Research Fund’ with immediate effect. There is currently no time to go down the usual protracted routes to arrange funding for research proposals. The clock is ticking. The objective of this ‘Corona Research Fund’ is to give scientists at Amsterdam UMC the chance to launch research projects more quickly in the battle against coronavirus. The sooner we can start, the greater our chances of overcoming this crisis.
